BREAKING NEWS: Three Female Teachers Kidnapped In Edo State.

Three female teachers have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Orhogbua primary school, Ekenwan in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State.

Wellington Akodeja reports that colleagues of the kidnapped teachers who also narrowly escaped being kidnapped narrated their ordeal when they visited NUT state secretariat.

Narrating the ordeal, the teachers said they were in their classes to carry out their duties when a group of men wearing masks stormed the school with various dangerous weapons and ordered three female teachers to follow them. The teachers said the sporadic gunshots from the suspected kidnappers thrown the school into confusion while some persons sustained injuries from gunshots. The teachers said the victims were kidnapped along with their cars and appealed to the kidnappers to release their colleagues unhurt.
Reacting to the incident, the State Media Officer, NUT Edo State Chapter, Comrade Mike Moni Modesty Itua said it is most unfortunate that teachers could be the targets of kidnappers.
Mr. Itua who frowned at the development said education cannot thrive in an unsecured environment and called on the police and the state government to wade into the ugly trend.

The State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Moses Equavoen could not be reached for comment.
